ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ Journeys: Felicia Yap on fiction, career changes and serendipity
The College welcomed back generations of alumni and friends for this year's Alumni Weekend.
There was a real buzz around ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ on Saturday as alumni returned to College for the Alumni Weekend. As part of the University’s annual Alumni Festival, which took place from 18–20 September, the day gave alumni the chance to catch up with old friends and spend time back at College.
The day began with lunch in the Dining Hall, before guests headed to the Combination Room to explore ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½â€™s latest art exhibition, 'Images and Other Conversations'. Featuring work by artists Suleman Aqeel Khilji and Charlotte Winifred Guérard, winners of the ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ Royal Academy Schools Graduate Prize, the exhibition brings their work together in a conversation centred on the idea of painting.
Later in the afternoon, attention turned to the future of healthcare, with a panel discussion exploring how precision medicine, AI, genomics and digital health are changing the way we age. Chaired by ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½â€™s President, Professor Dame Ijeoma Uchegbu, the panel brought together scientist and entrepreneur Dr Jason Mellad, Afromics Founder and CEO Linia Zambezi, and AstraZeneca Director Dr Mariarosa Mazza.
In the evening, guests gathered for a champagne reception before heading into the Dining Hall for a black-tie dinner attended by more than 140 people. It was a lively evening, with plenty of catching up continuing long after dinner began.
It was a joy to have so many alumni back at ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ and to see College so full throughout the day. We look forward to welcoming everyone back again soon!
